Is anyone else obsessed with Gillian Welch's "Soul Journey"?

Lay down between your high volume level speakers and fall in love with it.

I heard "Wrecking Ball" on Pandora the other day and it, um, wrecked me. Immediate download.

"look at miss ohio" and "wayside/back in time" are my faves but the whole thing is great.

wrecking ball altered my consciousness. just a little. but enough.

read this: http://www.newyorker.com/fact/content/?040920fa_fact3

read the whole thing. it's the platonic form for music writing.

yeah, i didn't give "wrecking ball" enough credit, it's totally good.

we have that new yorker in the bathroom! what's so neat-o is that now we're starting to make friends in that singer/songwriter scene from all the writer's nights... we were at thad cockrell's house in murdertown the other night ("begonias" is amazing, buy/dwnld it) and they were all passing around the guitar playing songs when someone says all nonchalantly, hey, there goes gill and dave's truck. and they wave and robby and i just look at each other like OMG, are you cereal? nashville is so crazy sometimes.
